Welcome

Day 4 of Beef Week on January 30th 2012 will provide a preview of the Welcome Swallow Aberdeen Autumn 2012 Bull Sale line up to be held on farm at 'Illalangi' on Wednesday April 11th at 1pm where 48 APR & HBR Angus Bulls together with 8 Registered Charolais Bulls will be presented as 'a one stop shop for Angus breeders' looking for high performance angus genetics as well as safe euro genetics to boost the KG's of beef grown per HA.

Several clients have been using the Charolias AI program since 2008 which we developed with Dr John Webb Ware from the Mackinnon Project and Dale Edwards from High Country Heifers. With over 1000 calves on the ground we have been able to prove that using these safe Charolais genetics in an Angus herd can improve both the bottom line and the flexibility of the production system making it a worthwhile risk management tool. Welcome Swallow have now assembled a herd bred from purpose bred US calving ease, high performance, high indexing Charolais genetics to offer Angus breeders.

The Angus sale line up is dominated by the many sons of the exciting new US sire TC Aberdeen. The TC Ranch is one of the most highly regarded seedstock programs in the US. TC Aberdeen looks set to become a new benchmark sire for the breed as he brings so much to the table – breedleading calving ease, huge growth spread, milk plus tremendous carcase quality. He is one of the rare bulls capable of producing both high performance sons with great phenotype as well as feminine & efficient daughters. In addition he provides a total outcross to Future Direction.

A pen of Angus and Charolais heifers will also be on display at Beef Week as part of RASV Heifer Challenge. If the weather is not too hot the Angus Spring cows & calves will also be yarded for inspection.

All are welcome plus refreshments and a light beef lunch will be available.
